Soho. Soho shops. My my my, would it be dangerous if I lived there. Speaking of “my my my”, I am dying (poor word choice?) for this mug that I found out about through Detective, the podcast about what poor Lt. Joe Kenda (with the deepest, graveliest voice ever) had to deal with for his entire career (you know, murders etc.) I think my obsession with crime stories really took off after finishing Dexter.
But aside from the podcasts and mugs, I did indeed go shopping in Soho a few weekends ago, following my very busy Saturday.
Below, a roundup of all my favorite stores in the most dangerous (for your wallet) neighborhood in New York! I’m sure Lt. Kenda would very much disagree with me.
For original, comfortable AND beautiful pieces that are relatively affordable. You can walk away with one nice dress without feeling like you’re done shopping for the day. Which is exactly what I did. The dress I purchased is not photographed – I found it just as I was finishing up and was totally smitten.
Is there anything better than a bookstore on a Sunday morning? No. I can’t believe there is. This is a cozy little gem with a great cafe inside to boot. If you need a break from all the luxe jumpsuits and dainty rings, stop in here and take a deep book breath.
Besides running into the photo of my godfather’s father (crazy!!) this place was definitely too cool for me to be inside. I tried on this simple thin, soft leather choker that I fell in love with before finding out it was $350.
I didn’t snap any photos in here, but know that this place is the airy, dreamy clothing store of your dreams. I did buy the Manon dress that I’d been eyeing online. I imagine wearing it somewhere beachy, somewhere city and somewhere homey.
Again: I am obsessed with this clothing. I want all of it. So simple, girly and beautifully shaped.
These tights were a little expensive, but dainty and often jeweled, which is right up my alley. For a special occasion I’d definitely consider buying a pair.
And although I was no longer in Soho, I felt the need to share my experience at a nail spot back to the East Village…
PS, if you’re interested in following the fish saga of apartment 21E, there is an update. There has been a murder/suicide. And also a birth – with one survivor. And I’m pretty sure there is another out-of-wedlock pregnancy. It is literally the most dramatic thing in my apartment. More on this later.
